Bright lights

San Luis ObispoSeptember 10, 2013

Maybe we could trade street lights with the gentleman on Johnson Avenue (Aug. 28), because the new lights out here near Spanish Oaks are way too bright and completely unshielded. They cast shadows in our second floor bedroom with the shades closed, and the street looks like a sports arena.

This is way past anything required for safety and wastes money. Such high contrast reduces visibility in darker areas like driveways and yards. It’s supposed to be dark at night, for sleeping, for nocturnal animals and views of our gorgeous night skies.
