Oscar Silva Lizarraga

A Shandon teenager was killed early Sunday when his car overturned off San Juan Road.

Oscar Silva Lizarraga, 16, was traveling south sometime before 3 a.m. Sunday when he drifted off the road onto a dirt shoulder, possibly because he was tired, according to a CHP news release.

Lizarraga overcorrected, and his Ford F-250 rolled over several times before landing in a vineyard, CHP officials said. Lizarraga, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was thrown from the vehicle, the release said.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The CHP said it did not appear as though alcohol or drugs were involved in the incident.
