The Cal Poly volleyball team beat San Jose State in four sets in the first of its two matches Saturday at the Sacramento State Tournament, and then held off host Sacramento State in five sets to capture the tournament championship.
The Mustangs won 16-25, 25-15, 25-23, 25-21 against San Jose State as Megan McConnell led Cal Poly with 20 kills and 15 digs. Maddie Kuber had six kills, 40 assists and eight digs.
Cal Poly beat Sacramento State 19-25, 25-15, 25-23, 21-25, 15-3. The Mustangs finished the fifth set on an 8-1 run.
Chelsea Hardin led Cal Poly with a match-high 18 kills, had five digs and three blocks. Hannah Schleis had 17 kills and five digs, and McConnell had a double-double with 14 kills and 11 digs. Shannon Garrett had 26 assists and seven digs.
