It may seem a little early to be planning for Christmas 2013, but not for the elves at the Cambria Chamber of Commerce, who have done some renaming and date rearranging.

The “Holiday in the Pines Open House” — formerly known as Hospitality Night — is set for Friday, Dec. 6, according to Mary Ann Carson, the chamber’s executive director. In previous years, the business-district, communitywide open house was held on the Thursday after Thanksgiving.

The change came at the request of chamber members and visitors, Carson said. They had indicated that moving the event to Friday might encourage more people to spend the weekend in Cambria.

The chamber’s auction of decorated trees and wreaths is set for Wednesday, Dec. 4; it was previously usually held Tuesday nights.
