At Santa Maria soldier's funeral, son gets flag of his father

Alvarez, 23, joined the U.S. Army in November 2011 and was assigned to the 40th Mobility Augmentation Company, 2nd Engineer Battalion. He and another soldier were killed by an improvised explosive device on Aug. 23 in Afghanistan’s Ghazni Province.
