Suspected Paso gas station robber is arrested in Santa Maria

A Paso Robles man was arrested Thursday in connection with the robbery of a Shell gas station in Paso Robles on Monday, according to a Paso Robles Police Department news release.

Azar Moore, 34, was arrested in Santa Maria after police detectives tracked him down using fingerprints left at the crime scene. Santa Maria Police Department assisted in the arrest. Paso Robles police took Moore back to Paso Robles Thursday, according to the news release.

On Monday around 4:30 p.m., Moore allegedly walked into the store at the Shell Station at 1244 24th St. and demanded money, telling the clerk he had a gun. The clerk turned over $300 from the cash register, and the robber ran away, police said.

Moore will be booked into the San Luis Obispo County Jail on suspicion of felony armed robbery, police said.
