A new music, food and beer festival that will salute the Central Coast is brewing in Avila Beach.

The 805 Beach Festival, hosted by Firestone Walker Brewing Co. of Paso Robles, will feature bands, eateries, and outdoor and art vendors from the counties that make up the 805 area code: San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara and Ventura.

There will also be beach games and prizes at the festival, which will run from noon to 5 p.m. Sept. 21 at the Avila Beach Golf Resort. Firestone Walker’s 805 Ale, sold only in this area code, will be showcased.

“We can’t think of a better way to spend the last day of summer here in the 805,” Jamie Smith, the brewery’s vice president of marketing, said in a news release.

Three bands are scheduled to play: San Luis Obispo County’s “American heartland” rockers The Small Kicks; Ventura County’s Rey Fresco, known for their use of the harp in rock and reggae; and Santa Barbara County’s Gardens & Villa, whose music is described as “galactic fever.”

A portion of the proceeds will benefit Surfrider Foundation's San Luis Obispo County chapter.

Organizers expect to sell about 1,500 tickets, which cost $20 each in advance and $25 the day of the event. Attendees must be 21 or older.

Tickets can be purchased online at www.firestonebeer.com/mingle/805beachfest.php as well as at locations such as Boo Boo Records in downtown San Luis Obispo.
