Nipomo rallies to win football opener

Nick Kimball hauled in a 4-yard touchdown pass from Matt Albright with four seconds left to tie the game, and Jason Alvarado kicked an extra point to help Nipomo High’s football team open the season with a 32-31 home win over Pioneer Valley on Friday night.

The Titans recovered an ensuing onside kick after the go-ahead extra point and were able to run out the clock.

Albright completed 30 of 42 passes for 322 yards and three touchdowns without an interception.

Kimball caught seven passes for 48 yards and three touchdowns, and Brandon Hettenhouser had eight receptions for 75 yards.

Alvarado went 4 for 4 on extra points, and converted a 25-yard field goal with 3 minutes, 51 seconds left to tie the score at 25.
