Cuesta drops volleyball opener

Cuesta College’s volleyball team fell 3-1 at Porterville on Wednesday night in its season opener.

The Cougars fell 21-25, 25-7, 25-21, 25-14 to Porterville, which finished last season as the 14th-ranked team in the state.

Cuesta was led by Whitney Meyer’s 15 kills in 37 attempts and six digs. Riley Cooks had 11 kills. Blake O’Brien logged 33 assists, and Nipomo High graduate Paige Waymire served four aces and tallied three block assists. 

Cuesta plays its home opener next Wednesday against Chabot.
