SLO players help team reach National Youth Baseball Championships final

Laguna Middle School students Lee, Benson help Titans to 3-2 semifinal win

Two Laguna Middle School students have helped lead the Santa Ynez Titans youth baseball team to today’s championship game of the National Youth Baseball Championships in Memphis, Tenn.

Brooks Lee and Cooper Benson, both of San Luis Obispo, helped the Titans to a 3-2 win over Team MVP in a semifinal game Sunday. Benson, a pitcher, went 1 for 3 with a run and an RBI, and struck out three in two innings. Lee, a catcher, was 1 for 1.

The Titans will play either Diamond MVP or BPA DeMarini in the championship at 4 p.m. today. CBS Sports Network will televise the game.
