SARP Center, North County Women's Shelter have new name: RISE

Two local sexual assault and domestic violence awareness groups have united under one name: RISE — short for Respect, Inspire, Support and Empower.

The new name represents the merger earlier this year between the Sexual Assault Recovery and Prevention Center (SARP) and the North County Women’s Shelter and Resource Center.

The groups united in January, though a new name was not announced until a special event Thursday night at Twin Cities Community Hospital’s Morgan Conference Center in Templeton, according to a news release.

A new website and advertising campaign that would include the new brand is in the works, but until then, information on RISE can be found at www.RISEslo.org.
