Blame not helping

Los OsosAugust 18, 2013

“The Tribune talked with residents about who is to blame … ” Now, right there, it seems to me The Tribune starts off with the wrong premise: that there is blame to be placed and a target to be found. Water wars are not a new thing here. California is blessed by weather that affords it an extended growing season not enjoyed by the rest of the country.

And we have plenty of water.

It’s called the Pacific Ocean.

Desalination plants could provide us with all the water we need. It is being done in other parts of the world and in Southern California.

Now, we could build them with today’s dollars or we could bicker and committee it to death and do it years from now at even more expense.

But I think taking positive action is preferable to this divisive blame game.

The Tribune is pleased to provide this opportunity to share information, experiences and observations about what's in the news. Some of the comments may be reprinted elsewhere in the site or in the newspaper. We encourage lively, open debate on the issues of the day, and ask that you refrain from profanity, hate speech, personal comments and remarks that are off point. Thank you for taking the time to offer your thoughts.
