The San Luis Obispo Parks and Recreation Department and the Police Department are hosting the annual Bike Rodeo for children ages 4 to 12 on Sept. 7 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The event will encourage cycling for young riders and teach safety techniques. Bike tune-ups will also be conducted by local bike shop mechanics, and helmets will be checked for proper fit.

The event will be held at Hawthorne Elementary School, 2125 Story St. in San Luis Obispo. Children must have a bike, helmet and signed guardian permission slip to participate.
