Two suspected car thieves were arrested early Wednesday in Avila Beach, according to the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office.

When deputies ran the plates of a 2012 Chevy Impala passing their patrol car in the opposite direction, they saw it was reported stolen out of Lompoc, sheriff's spokesman Tony Cipolla said.

Natalie Rae Fuentes, 28, and Anthony Scott Davenport, 19, were arrested on suspicion of auto theft, conspiracy, possession of a forged driver’s license, criminal conspiracy and receiving stolen property. Both are being held in San Luis Obispo County Jail in lieu of $500,000 bail.

The Sheriff’s Office is still investigating this case, Cipolla said.
