United Way of SLO County chooses new board members

United Way of San Luis Obispo County recently announced the new members of its volunteer leadership board for the 2013-14 year.

They are President Alexis Okumura, owner of Alexis Interiors; Secretary Debbie Lewis, retired principal from Lancaster; Treasurer Lance Parker, financial adviser at Advisor-Lance LLC; and Vice President of Community Impact Dena Bellman, of the Oceano Dunes District at the California State Parks.

United Way is still searching for a vice president of resource development, which was formerly filled by Okumura, according to Chief Operating Officer Erica Stewart.

New directors include Brendan Bych, United Way Youth Board president, and Courtney Kienow, a community volunteer.

Continuing directors include Marian Anderson, Carla Berkefeld, Laurent Bernad, Penny Borenstein, Kathleen Choal, Christine Johnson, Cindy Langford, John Lindsey and Ian Parkinson. Continuing directors emeriti include Frank Fertschneider and Thomas Sullivan.

United Way of San Luis Obispo County is a nonprofit organization that invests in programs that serve education, income and health.
