Avila and Pismo past

OceanoJuly 31, 2013

According to Joe Tarica (July 28), I am nuts because I liked Avila Beach a whole lot better before the oil spill scam and the makeover.

As for Pismo Beach, what was once a functional blue collar community and a great place for the residents is now overrun with tourists. Why would anyone want to live in a beach town that is so overwhelmed with Valley people that the residents can’t use the beach that is the reason they live there?

We had a Ferris wheel before, a tilt-a-whirl, carousel and skating rink that all gave way to a parking lot and more trinket stores. I am happy that Pismo is developing the vacant lots instead of sprawling outward, but let’s face it, Joe: Pismo was a precious jewel which has turned to glass, and nothing can change it back.
