The purchase of the Arroyo Grande lab will help Noel Laboratories with its continued growth, said Lisa Suddarth, director of marketing and human resources for Noel Laboratories.
The company has 19 employees and more than $1 million in annual revenues, and “with the combined business, we’re getting closer to $2 million,” Suddarth said. “When you reach over $2 million, then you can really, really grow.”
The lab was founded 34 years ago by San Luis Obispo County resident John C. Noel, a certified dental technician.
Formerly based in San Luis Obispo, Noel Laboratories is located in three separate buildings in the Meadowbrook Center in Atascadero. One of the spaces is dedicated for its milling operation, which allows the lab to mill zirconia, a white-powdered metal used for dental crowns and bridges.
“The Arroyo Grande lab didn’t have the milling technology,” Suddarth said. “This allows them to have the benefit of this modern technology and more control over the product.”
Noel Laboratories has 45 clients, most of them within the county, she said. “One of the things patients don’t know when they go to the dentist and have to get a root canal and crown, is that there’s a whole industry that makes those right here,” Suddarth said.
The merger will be official Aug. 1.
