Blues fall in Game 3 of CCL series, look ahead to NBC World Series

San Luis Obispo will open National Baseball Congress World Series on Saturday against Monarchs

The San Luis Obispo Blues defeated the host Major League Baseball Academy Barons 10-9 in 13 innings Sunday, only to lose the nightcap 12-10 in a summer collegiate baseball best-of-three winner-take-all finale to a California Collegiate League postseason series in Compton, Blues coach Chal Fanning said.

The series had no impact on the National Baseball Congress World Series, which the Blues (38-19) will open against the Monarchs of Hutchinson, Kan., on Saturday in Wichita, Kan.
