Atascadero High grad Kirkpatrick tosses no-hitter as North County sweeps Salinas

Cal Lutheran-bound right-hander strikes out nine in opener as Indians roll to pair of 9-0 wins

Atascadero High graduate Bryan Kirkpatrick pitched a no-hitter to power the North County Indians to a 9-0 win over the host Salinas Tomahawks in the opener of a summer collegiate baseball doubleheader Sunday at Monterey Peninsula College.

Kirkpatrick, who has committed to Cal Lutheran, walked two and struck out nine.

Connor O’Hare went 3 for 5 for the Indians, and teammates Kevin Morgan (two RBI), Brent Poulin, Alec Smith and Garrett Giovannelli added two hits each in the opener.

The Indians (32-10) also won the seven-inning nightcap 9-0 as Nick Suniga and Louie Carlos combined to pitch a one-hitter.

Suniga tossed five innings of no-hit ball with five walks and seven strikeouts.

North County’s Josh Ramirez (2 for 3) and Brett Clark each had a double in the nightcap.
