County bike riders sought for online survey

The San Luis Obispo Council of Governments and partners want to know more about bicycling behaviors in SLO County.

An online survey is asking community members for their input on bicycling in the community, regardless of their own cycling habits.

The survey is a follow-up to a previous survey that was mailed to a random sampling of the community and will be used to further inform SLOCOG about San Luis Obispo County residents’ views and priorities for the region. The survey can be found at

The original survey distributed to 2,000 randomly selected individuals by mail in March was requested by members of the public during the 2011 Transit and Bicycle Needs Hearing.

It was funded by SLOCOG and the Air Pollution Control District and overseen by the San Luis Obispo County Bicycle Coalition.

Data gathered from that survey is being tabulated, and will be made available to the public on the SLOCOG website,, in August.

The results will be used to develop programming and infrastructure investment priorities.
