I must have a gene loose, or an enlarged compassion node, because Ive been depressed for a week. On July 25, however, the article about the passing of a lovely young woman, and the legacy she leaves, brought it to a head.
At the fair, all the 4-H kids were jumping up and down when their animals were sold for lots of money. Thursdays article showed this lovely young woman standing with her handsome steer, that shed raised since he was a tiny calf, and told how proud and happy she was that he was to be slaughtered, turned into ground meat and donated to feed the homeless.
How do they do this? How do these kids love and pet and care for an animal, and then be thrilled to sell it for meat? So, I guess I truly can be called a bunnyhugger or a Bambi-lover because just writing this letter makes me sick and sad. Im missing something here.
