North County Indians get walk-off win over Fairfield Indians

San Luis Obispo High product Davey Casciola capped a marquee night for former Tigers, driving a pinch hit to the warning track in the bottom of the ninth inning, and the North County Indians walked off with a 4-3 summer collegiate baseball victory over the visiting Fairfield Indians on Thursday night in Templeton.

Alec Smith and Garrett Giovannelli, another San Luis Obispo product, singled back-to-back to lead off the home half of the ninth for North County (28-10). After former Tigers catcher R.J. Hassey bunted them to second and third, Casciola came on for the game-winner.

Petter Lecce was 3 for 4 for North County, and Smith and Giovannelli had two hits apiece — as did Sinjin Todd, another former Tigers player.

Each team scored one run in the third, fifth and eighth innings. North County secured the win when reliever Jordan Goldsmith, a former San Luis Obispo and Cuesta College standout, blanked Fairfield in the ninth prior to Casciola’s heroics.
