An untimely car accident has forced a San Luis Obispo theater company put its current production on hold.
San Luis Obispo Little Theatre canceled three performances of Why Do Fools Fall in Love? Thursday at 7 p.m., Friday at 7 p.m and Saturday at 2 p.m. after one of the four lead actresses was injured Wednesday afternoon while driving from Los Angeles to San Luis Obispo, according to Patty Thayer, the companys communications and development director.
Ticket holders for those shows have already been notified about the situation and offered options for exchanges and refunds, she said.
Thayer did not identify the actress, but said she is expected to recover fully from her injuries.
She is pretty beat up and has lacerations on her arms and legs, Thayer said, leaving the actress currently unable to perform.
Thayer said that none of the cast members have understudies.
There aren't too many folks who are interested in rehearsing for five weeks with only a slim chance of performing, which is what an understudy must do, she said.
San Luis Obispo Little Theatre hopes to bring back Why Do Fools Fall in Love? on Saturday in time for its scheduled 7 p.m. show.
The musical play, which opened July 12, stars Danielle Levin, Deirdre Loy, Shannon Peters and Jessie Quandt as four friends who experience love, loss and friendship in the 1960s.
