UPDATE: The kayaker has been found safe, according to scanner dispatches.

Original story: A kayaker has been reported missing near Spooner’s Cove in Montaña de Oro State Park.

A helicopter and a Coast Guard boat are currently searching the water for him. The man had gone kayaking earlier Tuesday with four friends, according to a Cal Fire spokeswoman. It is not known how long it has been since he separated from his friends but he's considered “long overdue.”

The Coast Guard received a call for help around 10 a.m. The missing man was last seen wearing black board shorts in a yellow kayak.
