San Luis Obispo Blues’ woes against Santa Barbara Foresters continue

Santa Barbara moves atop the CCL North standings with 13-5 victory at home

San Luis Obispo - The TribuneJuly 18, 2013

The San Luis Obispo Blues lost to the Santa Barbara Foresters 13-5 Thursday on the road in a summer collegiate baseball.

It was the fifth time this season the Blues lost to the Foresters. San Luis Obispo beat Santa Barbara in the first matchup of the season between the teams June 25, but they haven’t beat Santa Barbara since. The loss snapped a four-game winning streak for San Luis Obispo.

The two teams entered Thursday’s game tied atop the California College League North Division standings.

The Blues (33-14, 17-12) tied the score at 5 in the top of the sixth inning, but the Foresters (29-11, 18-11) exploded for eight runs in their half of the sixth.

Aaron Attaway went 2 for 4 with two RBI for San Luis Obispo, and Blake Allemand went 2 for 3 with an RBI and two runs. Daniel Garner was 1 for 3 with two RBI. Allemand and Kyle Johnson each had a double.

Each of the Blues’ first four pitchers gave up multiple earned runs in their outings. Andrew Lee took the loss, allowing three earned runs in 2 2⁄3 innings.

Matt Lynch came on in the seventh and the eighth to pitch two scoreless innings, striking out two, but the Blues couldn’t chip away at the large lead over the final three innings.
