SLO pool closing for heater replacement

July 18, 2013

The SLO Swim Center’s 50-meter pool at 902 Southwood Drive will be closed for two months starting Aug. 26 to replace the pool’s heater.

Several daily aquatic programs, including lap swim, swim lessons and high school programs, will be affected. After the first two weeks of construction, the therapy/toddler pool will be reopened, and some routine programs will be shifted to that pool.

The project will replace the pool’s boiler heater, creating more consistency for the pool’s water temperature.

The equipment being replaced is now obsolete and past its lifespan, according to the city.

For information about the closure or program availability during that time, call 781-7288. To receive weekly email updates on the status of the project, email dhyfield@slocity.org.
