Pismo campground to get upgrades

dsneed@thetribunenews.comJuly 18, 2013

State Parks is planning some improvements to the Pismo State Beach campground, including a new visitor center and entry kiosk.

The county Planning Commission will review the project when it meets July 25. Most of the improvements are in the coastal planning zone and would fall under the jurisdiction of the state Coastal Commission.

The new visitor center will include a resource staff building and nature center as well as a reception area and other amenities.

Other planned work includes realigning the campground entry, access road and camp host site to the south and a 21-space parking lot.

The campground was built in 1947 and contains 82 campsites.
