Letter to the Editor

Accurate figures

San Luis ObispoJuly 17, 2013

In response to the July 14 letter of John Gajdos, I must say I find that the information from Garry Wilson is likely not “grossly inflated.”

According to the National Center for Injury Prevention and Control and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, in 2010, guns took the lives of 31,076 Americans in homicides, suicides and unintentional shootings. These same organizations report that firearms were the third-leading cause of injury-related deaths nationwide in 2010, following poisoning and motor vehicle accidents.

Mr. Garry Wilson did not inflate numbers. Verifiable facts are indeed better for intelligent discussion.
