Work on Cayucos water lines to begin Monday

About three months of work on Cayucos water line improvements is due to start Monday on Shearer, Stuart and Richard avenues, the San Luis Obispo County Public Works department has announced.

Residents are to be notified by front-door hangers at least 72 hours in advance of any interruption in water service, which would only happen during the project’s work hours.

Weekday work hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

One-lane closures will affect traffic in the area, as will flagman-controlled work areas and movement of heavy-construction vehicles. Residents and emergency vehicles will have access through the area at all times.

Andrew Brown General Engineering has the contract for the $558,421 project, which is intended to provide proper fire flows for that area of Cayucos. Upfront funding comes from a low-interest U.S. Department of Agriculture loan, that will be repaid by a resident-approved water-rate increase.

It’s anticipated the job will be finished in October.
