Fire destroys garage of Morro Bay home

The Morro Bay Fire Department extinguished a house fire Sunday evening in Morro Bay.

At 7:22 p.m., there was a report of a structure fire in the 2900 block of Elm Avenue, according to a news release. The fire was fully extinguished after 22 minutes, with the assistance of one Cal Fire engine.

The fire was contained to a detached garage, although the heat damaged an adjacent home and a trailer parked in the driveway. The total loss was estimated at approximately $50,000.

No injuries were reported, and the cause is still under investigation, although arson is not suspected.
