Letter to the Editor

God and the Bible

Grover BeachJuly 10, 2013

I am responding to Tom Bauer’s letter published July 7. Tom has many questions and opinions about God and the Bible. I welcome your curiosity and hope that you are open to my opinion that differs from yours.

I believe that God is truth, and that the words of the Bible are “God-breathed.” In other words, he communicated the words to human authors, and warns that no one shall add or take away from his word.

Regarding genetics, I have no answer except to say that we do not have the mind of God. Why are some disabled, mentally, physically, etc.?

To readers of The Tribune who agree or disagree with my letter, I encourage you to read a book, “Systematic Theology,” by Wayne Grudem. It is a tome of 1,200 pages, but a real page-turner if you are a seeker of truth.

The Tribune is pleased to provide this opportunity to share information, experiences and observations about what's in the news. Some of the comments may be reprinted elsewhere in the site or in the newspaper. We encourage lively, open debate on the issues of the day, and ask that you refrain from profanity, hate speech, personal comments and remarks that are off point. Thank you for taking the time to offer your thoughts.
