Cal Poly golfer Taylor Yoshitake is the first Mustang to ever qualify for the U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship set for next month.

Yoshitake, who’s entering her senior year, carded a 74 in a sectional qualifying tournament Monday at the Glendora Country Club, finishing in a three-way tie for second place.

Fourteen golfers and two alternates from the Glendora sectional will move on to the U.S. Amateur, which is scheduled for Aug. 5-11 in Charleston, S.C. A total of 18 sectionals were held through Tuesday for golfers to qualify.

Montana Kosty, who will be a sophomore at Cal Poly, missed qualifying by one stroke at the Glendora Country Club event. She carded a 78.
