Atascadero's Kennedy defeats Gracie in UFC debut

Atascadero mixed martial artist Tim Kennedy won his Ultimate Fighting Championship debut Saturday night, winning a middleweight bout by unanimous decision over Roger Gracie as part of UFC 162 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Kennedy, who was born in San Luis Obispo and raised in Atascadero, was awarded a 30-27, 30-27, 29-28 victory. The 33-year-old was making his UFC debut after a prolific Strikeforce career.

Chris Weidman upset Anderson Silva with a second-round knockout in the main event to claim the middleweight title.
