One of Cambria’s main attractions is the temperate weather we enjoy all year round. A study of Cambria’s weather pattern has been put together utilizing the last 13 years of temperature data as recorded at the Waste Water Treatment Plant in Park Hill and reported weekly in The Cambrian.

This data, combined with a subjective evaluation of the type of day that Cambria experiences, (sunny, partly sunny, cloudy and rainy) contributes to the following report.

A clear day is defined as clear skies from early morning to sunset.  A partial clear day means that the fog or clouds clear out during the day followed by sunshine for the remainder of the day (or vice versa).

Since this evaluation is conducted at or near the ocean, where fog and low clouds are more prevalent than all other parts of town, the temperatures and weather information reflect lower temperatures than one might expect to see due to the many microclimates within Cambria.

The weather year starts July 1 and ends June 30.

The 2012-2013 rainy season

This lowest amount of rain recorded over the last 10 years was 9.5 inches in 2007. This past year we recorded 10.5 inches, 70 percent of which took place in October, November and December.

In December 2010, Cambria received 10.6 inches of rain, representing more than the entire 2013 year.

Summer 2013

We can expect very little rain, if any, over the summer months (July, August, September). Over the last 15 years, Cambria has averaged one rainy day with a token accumulation of one-quarter inch.
On June 21, the longest day of the year, the sun set at 8:24 p.m.

From May 13 thru Aug. 8, the sun sets after 8 p.m. in Cambria. This late sunset provides close to three months (88 days) for daylight evening activities.

Weekly averages

Weather conditions for an average week during the summer season are: two days per week, clear and sunny; four days per week, early morning fog followed by partial clearing and sun; one day per week, no sun (cloudy and foggy all day).
