Lynne_Schmitz@yahoo.comJuly 3, 2013

Monday, July 8 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Twin Cities Community Hospital will hold a community forum to explain the impact of health care reform – the Affordable Care Act – on you and your family. The forum will be held at the Mission San Miguel Parish Community Center behind the mission.

The San Miguel Advisory Council held elections at their meeting on June 26 with four members returning to the Council. Officers for the year are Chairman Mike Sanders, Vice-Chairman Craig Rambo, Secretary Sharon Brower, Treasurer John McClure, Publicity Anthony Kalvans, Member-at-large Steve Christian, and Alternate Dale Hamblin. The Council meets at the Community Building in the Park on the fourth Wednesday of each month except in November and December when meetings are rescheduled for the holidays.

The San Miguel Community Services District is in the process of recruiting a new General Manager due to the resignation of Rene Salas whose last day was June 11. A temporary manager, David Bentz has been hired in the interim. Mr. Bentz is a private contractor with experience in managing public agencies and in revenue allocation. Please welcome him to our community.

Congratulations to Bill and Valerie Schmitz who were married on June 22 in a lovely ceremony at Falcon’s Nest Winery by the Rev. Charlie Reed. My new daughter-in-law is from Antipolo City in the Phillipines and we are very happy to welcome her to our family.

The newly-weds live in Bakersfield.
