Gas price disparity

San Luis ObispoJuly 3, 2013

I can understand why gas prices fluctuate so much from state to state because of different taxes, emission standards and possibly geographic reasons. I understand that prices even vary from different parts of a state. But I can’t understand why the price varies so much right here in San Luis Obispo. I have found that the fuel on the north end of town tends to be cheaper than the fuel on the south end. Why is that? Is it better?

I live closer to the southern stations, but I have found that if I drive just a couple extra miles I can save money. As a matter of fact, I just filled up on north Santa Rosa and saved more than 8 dollars, so driving a couple extra miles was worth it. Guess I will just continue to take advantage of the good north prices.
