A Bakersfield man killed in a Shell Beach car crash on June 27 has been identified as 21-year-old Lennon Samuel Dibley.

Dibley was a passenger in a 1991 Acura Integra driven by Joshua Hurt, 21, of Bakersfield.

At approximately 4:30 a.m. Thursday on northbound Highway 101 in Shell Beach, Hurt was approaching Spyglass Drive when he drove off the roadway, crashed into a concrete center divider and overturned, according to a news release by the California Highway Patrol.

The Coroner’s Unit of the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office said that Dibley died of blunt force trauma, a result of the car accident.

Hurt, who was allegedly under the influence of alcohol at the time, was arrested. He was treated for moderate injuries at Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center in San Luis Obispo before being booked into County Jail, where he's being held in lieu of $100,000 bail.
