Beer thief sought by San Luis Obispo police

San Luis Obispo police say this man stole an 18-pack of beer from the Circle K on Higuera Street early Monday.

San Luis Obispo police are looking for a man who stole an 18-pack of beer from Circle K early Monday morning.

Police officers were called to the convenience store at 158 Higuera St. around 2:20 a.m. for a reported robbery. Officers were told that a man entered the store, walked to the beverage cooler, grabbed an 18-pack of beer and ran out the door, according to a news release from the San Luis Obispo Police Department.

The clerk chased the thief until the thief stopped and told the clerk that he had a gun. The thief then ran to a pickup truck parked nearby and drove off. A second person may have been inside the truck, police said.

The thief is described as a man in his 20s, approximately 5 feet, 8 inches tall with a thin build.
