Letter to the Editor

Good year for Lions

NipomoJuly 1, 2013

On behalf of the Nipomo Lions as its president, I would like to thank the businesses and individuals in the community who have made this year such a success. Through your support, we have been able to give back more than $20,000 this year to help support local food banks, children in need, seniors, and numerous other organizations and individuals. The local media has also been a big help in publicizing our events and sharing our stories of giving back.

We wholeheartedly embrace the Lions International motto “We Serve.” Lions International has clubs in more than 200 countries worldwide and is both one of the world’s oldest and largest service organizations. While the original charter was to help with sight issues, the scope now includes disaster assistance and many other needs locally and globally.

Our Nipomo Lions meet for breakfast on the first Thursday of the month at Blacklake Golf Course and for dinner at the Blacklake Community Center the third Thursday of the month. We not only work hard for our community, we have fun and great fellowship.

For more information on how to become a part of this great group, contact me at 343-0827 or our incoming President, Jim Wiggins, at 929-8238.
