Letter to the Editor

Share the blame

Arroyo GrandeJuly 1, 2013

Mr. Bruce Henderson’s June 25 letter blaming the continued spiral down of the economy on the past administration and the Republicans made for good reading, though it was not 100 percent factual.

As the liberals keep repeating that the reason that President Obama’s recovery is not working is because the Republicans control the House — you need to remember that the Democrats controlled the Congress, both the Senate and the House, starting in 2006. So all the blame cannot go to President Bush and the Republicans. The policies that were implemented by the Democrats through 2008 really boosted the downward spiral of our economy, instead of stopping it and creating a recovery.

Then, in 2008 through 2010, the Democrats had a super-majority in the Senate and control of the House plus the office of the President. What policies did they pass to help the economy? None. They just furthered the bailouts.

The Democrats are just as responsible as the Republicans for our economic downfall. President Bush and the Republicans may have played a major part in putting our economy into the toilet, but President Obama and the Democrats flushed it. Get rid of them all and start anew.
