Mustangs’ Allen helps Blues top Kings in thriller

Cal Poly junior infielder doubles twice; Attaway scores on error in ninth as SLO rallies for 6-5 home victory

Aaron Attaway scored on an error in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the San Luis Obispo Blues a 6-5 summer collegiate baseball victory over the visiting West Coast Baseball Kings on Saturday night at SLO Stadium.

The Blues (24-7) tied the score at 5 on an RBI double from Jimmy Allen in the bottom of the eighth.

Allen, a junior infielder from Cal Poly, went 2 for 2 with a pair of doubles and a RBI.

San Luis Obispo’s Kyle Johnson was 2 for 4 with two runs scored.


Paso Robles High product Josh Ramirez was 4 for 4 with three extra-base hits, and Cal Poly signee Slater Lee handcuffed San Mateo for seven scoreless innings for North County (14-6).

Ramirez, who returns to Cuesta for his sophomore season next year, had two doubles and a triple while driving in a run and scoring once.

Lee, an incoming Cal Poly freshman, allowed four hits and two walks while striking out two.
