Correction: An earlier version of this story gave the wrong address for the ECHO shelter; it's on Atascadero Avenue.

The El Camino Homeless Organization has opened a cooling station in Atascadero for anyone who needs to escape the heat.

The shelter, located at 6370 Atascadero Ave., across the street from North County Christian School, will be open from noon to 5 p.m. today and for the next several days as needed, according to shelter board members.

Anyone who needs to cool off is welcome.

ECHO is also asking for donations of water, ice, sports drinks and fruit. Call 462-3663 for more information.
