A new fitness course featuring 10 exercise stations along a trail at San Luis Obispo’s Laguna Lake Park opened Thursday.

Four San Luis Obispo service organizations collaborated to build the course, which replaces the park’s much older wooden fitness stations that had deteriorated over the years.

In March, volunteers kicked off construction on the $22,000 project funded with $15,800 raised by three local Rotary groups. Additional in-kind donations of services rounded out the total, organizers said.

The free course starts off the park’s main parking lot and goes in a loop.

The groups included the Rotary Club of San Luis Obispo Daybreak, Rotary Club of San Luis Obispo de Tolosa and the Rotary Club of San Luis Obispo. The Rotaract Club of San Luis Obispo also helped with planning and labor.
