Power lines spark brush fire north of San Luis Obispo

Firefighters quickly put out a small vegetation fire beneath power lines at the top of a ridge about a half-mile south of Old Stagecoach Road.

Power lines north of San Luis Obispo ignited a brush fire, the third reported Friday in SLO County as temperatures soared.

The fire was reported at 5:02 p.m. on a hill to the west of Highway 101 north of Monterey Street, according to a Cal Fire spokesperson.

Cal Fire sent aircraft to fight the fire, which has been extinguished.

Traffic was not affected by the blaze.
