A small fire in the Highway 101 median in San Luis Obispo on Friday was under control within 10 minutes of being reported, authorities said.

The fire, reported at 12:26 p.m., burned a 50-foot-by-10-foot area between the Los Osos Valley Road and Prado Road exits, according to Jeff Gater, battalion chief of the San Luis Obispo Fire Department.

The fire was nearly out by the time the firefighters got to the scene, Gater said.

The cause of the fire is unknown, but it didn’t seem suspicious so no investigation will take place, he said.
