Here are some animal-related events coming up in San Luis Obispo County:

Goldens to gather at Laguna Lake

Goldens in the Park will be from noon to 4 p.m. July 7 at Laguna Lake Park in San Luis Obispo. All golden retrievers, along with other breeds of dogs, and their humans are welcome.

Events include recognition for most senior golden, best fetch, most balls in mouth and best trick. There will also be demonstrations, pet vendors, food and more. The event benefits Woods Humane Society and Animal Shelter Adoption Partners. Admission is free.

Firecracker Boogie in Arroyo Grande

A Firecracker Boogie will be at 12:30 p.m. Sunday at Biddle Park in Arroyo Grande.

The event includes music by Dr. Danger, Big Daddy’s Blues Band and The Spaces In Between; barbecue; silent auction; and raffle. Proceeds benefit Woods Humane Society. For more information, call 235-5114.

Doggie Parade

The Avila Beach Doggie Parade begins at 11:30 a.m. July 4 at the Avila Beach Community Center.

Preregistration is open through Tuesday at http://www.avilabeachcc.com. Registration is also available the day of the event for a $10 fee.

Adopt a cat in SLO

The Feline Network holds cat and kitten adoptions from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. every Saturday at the Petco in the Madonna Shopping Center in San Luis Obispo. Cats and kittens are spayed or neutered, tested and vaccinated. Adoption fee is $60 for one or $80 for two. Free vet exam included.

Free semi-tame mousers are also available.

June is Name Your Own Price Month on cats older than 6 months at Woods Humane Society. Each adoptable cat is spayed or neutered, vaccinated and microchipped prior to going home. Woods Humane Society is at 875 Oklahoma Ave., in San Luis Obispo. Details are at http://www.woodshumane.org .
