The San Miguel School Board will hold a special meeting tonight at the library at Lillian Larsen School, 1601 L St., for a public hearing on the adopted budget for the school year 2013-14. Open session begins at 6 p.m. For more information call secretary to the principal Jan Brown at 467-3216.

A new church is meeting in the old theater downtown.  Greater Mission Ministries – a church that “loves like Christ” is meeting at 1141B Mission St., in the old Greybill Theater. Rev. Michael T. Weaks invites everyone to attend Sunday morning service at 8:45 a.m. and Bible Study on Thursdays at 7 p.m.   They would love to get copies of old photos of the theater in its heyday. For more information, or if you have photos to share, please contact Sister Denise Sterrett at 805.610.4410.

Two Safe and Sane Fireworks booths have popped up – one downtown next to the Fire Station run by volunteer firemen and the other on K Street next to Dos Hermanos Restaurant run by Native Sons of the Golden West and Lions Club members.  These fireworks are legal to use in San Miguel but please use them carefully! They’ll be open from June 29 through July 4.

Tomorrow night is the last night to enjoy the San Miguel Lions Club Friday Night Ribs.  For only $12 you get a full plate of delicious, tender pork ribs, beans, salad, a dessert and a soft drink.  They want to thank everyone who supports their projects.
