Cut Deen slack

AtascaderoJune 26, 2013

I am not a particular fan of The Food Network, nor of Paula Deen for that matter. However, it seems to me that The Food Network is cutting off their nose to spite their face, so to speak, all in the name of misguided political correctness.

It’s kind of like when ESPN cut Rush Limbaugh loose after he made what was perceived to be a derogatory comment about a black Philadelphia Eagles quarterback. In that case, I’m sure Rush couldn’t have cared less. After all, he is already a multimillionaire, and what ESPN was paying him was chump change.

In the case of Paula Deen, a career may well have been destroyed, all over a comment she made for which she has apologized profusely!

C’mon, people! Cut the lady a little slack! I’m sure there is not a broadcaster alive (myself included) who has not at one time or another put their mouth into motion before engaging their brain in gear. I’m sure the same is true for newspaper writers and their pens!
