Cal Poly kicker Zalud on awards watch list

Senior becomes fifth Mustangs player on College Football Performance Awards watch list

Cal Poly senior kicker Bobby Zalud on Monday became the fifth Mustangs player named to the College Football Performance Awards watch list.

Zalud was perfect on all 55 extra-point kicks last season, and he made 12 of 16 field goals.

Zalud also punted in 2012, averaging 40.6 yards per punt. On kickoffs, he averaged 63.5 yards with 41 touchbacks.

Mustang Nick Dzubnar was added to the CFPA watch list for linebackers last week, joining defensive tackle Sullivan Grosz, running back Kristaan Ivory and wide receiver Willie Tucker.

Cal Poly opens its season Aug. 31 against San Diego at 4:05 p.m. at Alex G. Spanos Stadium.
