Second baseman batted .357 as senior, has signed with Diamondbacks

Cal Poly senior second baseman Denver Chavez has been named to the American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings All-West Region Second Team, Cal Poly announced Friday.

Chavez batted a team-high .357 with one home run and 23 RBI this season. The leadoff hitter also had 14 doubles, three triples and a team-leading 17 stolen bases.

Chavez was chosen by Arizona in the 30th round of the Major League Baseball Draft, and he signed with the Diamondbacks earlier this week.
